3F Oil Palm accelerates edible oil mission with mega plantation drive in Assam

In a significant push towards achieving self-reliance in edible oil production, 3F Oil Palm Pvt. Ltd., in association with the Government of Assam, launched a mega oil palm plantation initiative under the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) in Digandu Village 5, Dima Hasao district.
Set up on a 20-hectare plot owned by progressive farmer Maijen Hagjer, the plantation represents a landmark step in tapping into the North-East’s potential for oil palm cultivation. The formal launch event took place at the Digandu Community Hall, attracting a robust participation of local farmers, government officials, and company representatives.
Srinivasarao Kilari, vice president, 3F Oil Palm Pvt. Ltd., said, "As one of India’s leading integrated oil palm companies, we see tremendous potential in the North-East. At 3F Oil Palm, our mission is to empower farmers through sustainable agriculture, ensuring long-term income stability and market access. This plantation in Dima Hasao is just the beginning. We are committed to building a holistic ecosystem delivering world-class planting materials and continuous technical support to farmers.”
The initiative received strong backing from local authorities. Rupali Langthasa, member, autonomous council, Diyungbra, Dima Hasao, who graced the event as guest of honour, said, “Such initiatives are a welcome step towards farmer empowerment and sustainable livelihood generation. The collaboration between government and private entities is essential for rural economic growth.”
Also present were key stakeholders including Narmada Khersa, district agriculture officer, Dima Hasao, Kalpana Barman, state nodal officer, Oil Palm, Pankaj Sharma, zonal head, Jevin D. Thousen, district nodal officer, P. Dutta, general manager, Northeast Region, 3F Oil Palm Pvt. Ltd., and Sujatha Phonglo, ADO of Diyungbra block.
The involvement of Gram Pradhans from 11 surrounding villages highlighted the strong community participation and interest in oil palm cultivation as a sustainable source of income and rural development.
The event concluded with a ceremonial plantation drive, symbolising a unified commitment to making the NMEO-OP a success story in the North-East. The Dima Hasao initiative is expected to pave the way for further expansion of oil palm acreage in Assam and neighbouring states, in alignment with India’s vision of reducing edible oil imports and promoting indigenous production.
