Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ramvilas Paswan passed away on Thursday evening. He was 74.
He was admitted to a private hospital in Delhi for the last several days reportedly for a heart issue.
His son Chirag Paswan, announced this news via Twitter.
Paswan was a minister in the Narendra Modi government, and previously in the UPA government as well as the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government at the Centre.
Paswan was an MP from Bihar.
