Ahimsa Foods develops plant-based meat alternatives – lacto veg, vegan

Ahimsa Foods has now developed Veggie Champ which is a plant-based gourmet meat brand. The company stated that it is the first to get into ‘mock meat’ production in the country.

The 12-year-old company is committed to producing high-quality gourmet vegetarian food which expands the nutritional, textural and taste boundaries of vegetarians and can be savoured by most dedicated meat lovers as well.

The product offers plant-based alternatives that are rich in protein, have more fibre than animal meat, and have zero cholesterol. Their menu offers a variety of Lacto Vegetarian and Vegan products in more than 35 options with new additions every month. They present alternatives to fish, mutton, chicken and have vegan hot dogs, salami, and kebab for both vegetarians and non- vegetarians.

The brand offers curry products like Vegan Classic Chicken, Mock Mutton and Mock Duck, along with mock fish fillet, pepper salami and vegan burger made with combinations of soy, milk, wheat protein, mustard and spices. The frozen gourmets are not ready-to-eat, but someone with less or no cooking skills can also make them easily.

The products range covers Vegan Classic Chicken, a vegetarian substitute for recipes requiring chicken. It has a unique texture and the ingredients include textured soya, soya protein, soya oil, spices and salt, priced at Rs 215.

Vegan Mock Duck comes in a juicy tender texture where consumers can marinate with a marinade of one’s choice. It can be grilled or sauted till well heated or cooked in a curry and served with rice or chapati. It is priced at Rs 184.

Vegan Mock Mutton is a vegetarian substitute for recipes requiring mutton. The company said it has both texture and flavour. The mock mutton has ingredients like textured soya, soya and wheat protein, soya oil, spices, salt, flour and is priced at Rs 215.

Vegan Pepper Salami can be used as a cold cut with drinks, sandwiches or pizza and pasta topping at Rs 126.

The Vegan Tandoori Burger Patty can be used in a bun with mayonnaise, ketchup and lettuce or other condiments of your choice and is priced at Rs 205. Veg Tandoori Hotdog priced at Rs 205 and the Vegan Mexican Fish Finger available at Rs 220.

Veggie Champ is providing door to door delivery services in three major cities covering Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Hyderabad. It is also delivering through partners in other cities like Chennai, and they are planning to expand their services to Pune, Bhopal, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Bengaluru and Jaipur soon.
