The FSSAI has issued a clarification regarding reduction in fee for lab analysis in pan-India surveillance.
The food regulator has said that 50% reduction in fee was only for pan-India surveillance.
"It is clarified that the reduction of testing fee is applicable to the pan-India surveillance conducted by QA Division, FSSAI HQ only. It is not related to surveys conducted under National Annual Surveillance Plan (NASP) or any other regular surveillance by States/UTs," reads the notice by FSSAI.
Earlier, FSSAI issued an order for reduction in fee for lab analysis during the pan-India surveillance being conducted across all States.
The surveillance on food products was being done to gather data for food safety monitoring, risk assessment, identifying hotspots of adulteration, and setting standards.
These nationwide surveillance activities were carried out extensively, with samples collected from both the organised and unorganised sectors across all districts in all States and UTs.
