fiogf49gjkf0d The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has issued some additions to the regulation of export of peanuts and peanut products through control of aflatoxins. The announcement issued on January 30, 2013, said that exporters shall ensure that all peanut and peanut product (PPP) units from whom they source the produce have provided their data (name and address, capacity, etc. of the unit) available to the Indian Oilseeds and Produce Export Promotion Council (IOPEPC) for submission to Peanut.Net by March 31, 2013, since Customs would only accept a certificate of export through Peanut.Net with effect from April 1, 2013, as advised by APEDA to them. Exporters shall also ensure that all PPP processing units (including integrated peanut processing units, peanut shelling units, peanut grading units, peanut shelling-cum-grading units, and peanuts godowns/storage) whose data is made available to Peanut.Net by March 31, 2013 would need to obtain hazard analysis and critical control products (HACCP) certification by July 31, 2013 under the Regulations. The other points of order released by APEDA were that exporters have to ensure compliance with the aflatoxin levels as specified in the regulation and moisture levels (not exceeding seven per cent) in the PPP for export. The amendment would be applicable for exports of PPP to countries other than Russia and the European Union (EU) only. Other provisions stated in Regulation of Export of Peanuts and Peanut Products through control of aflatoxins dated June 27, 2011 (Amendment-III dated January 9, 2013) shall remain unchanged.
