Pakistan is gearing up to overhaul its dairy and meat processing industries. In this regard, the Sindh government has proposed a Rs 1.5-billion dairy village and meat processing zone in Bhambore in Sindh province to target the local and export markets. The zone will be located at around 58 km from the Karachi airport and 78 km from the Karachi port.
According to reports, the project will initially be set up on over 1,300 acres of land but over 1,200 more acres can be reserved for expansion. Post-announcement of the Budget, potential partners will be sought for the project.
According to the proposal, the dairy and processing activities will be carried out separately and the land will be divided accordingly. Around 100 five-acre plots will be given to each sector.
On the said land, milk-processing plants, chilling units, feed mills, a livestock and fodder market, slaughterhouses and a meat-processing zone will be established.
The dairy village and meat-processing zone would have their own drainage and waste disposal system along with a sewerage treatment plant. A 16 km access road linking the facility with the National Highway will be built as part of the project.
