NHB implementing scheme for expansion & modernisation of cold storages

fiogf49gjkf0d The National Horticulture Board (NHB) is implementing the capital investment subsidy scheme for the construction, expansion and modernisation of cold storages and storages for horticulture produce.
Under the scheme, the board will providing credit-linked back-ended capital investment subsidy to the eligible organisations for the aforementioned purposes at the rate of 40 per cent of the capital project cost in general areas and 55 per cent in hilly and scheduled areas for a maximum storage capacity of 5,000 million tonne per project.
The financial assistance for the modernisation of cold storages is provided for (i) the upgradation of thermal insulation, (ii) the upgradation of cooling system, refrigeration, air flow, electric installation, handling devices, safety devices, etc.
In a written reply to a query in the Rajya Sabha, Charan Das Mahant, minister of state for agriculture and food processing industries, Government of India, added that the department of agriculture and cooperation - under the ministry of agriculture – is also implementing the National Horticulture Mission (NHM) scheme for the development of horticulture in India. This includes assistance for post-harvest management.
The component of establishment, expansion and modernisation of existing cold storages is project-based.
