In a bid to reassure concerned parents and consumers, Nestlé India has stated that all its infant formula products sold in India are manufactured domestically and are compliant with Indian safety standards. The clarification comes amid global scrutiny and recalls of baby milk brands by Nestlé and other multinational producers following contamination concerns in several overseas markets.
Nestlé India’s range of infant nutrition products, including well-known brands such as Nan Pro, Lactogen and Nan Grow, are produced in the company’s local facilities, the firm confirmed in an official communication. The move aims to differentiate the India operations from international developments, where investigations and precautionary withdrawals have been reported in countries like France due to potential contamination with toxins.
A company spokesperson emphasised that all products made and sold in the Indian market undergo rigorous testing and meet the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s (FSSAI) regulatory requirements, alongside other applicable rules and regulations. This assurance is intended to address parental concerns and underline that the ongoing international investigations do not pertain to products available to Indian consumers.
The global situation has seen some infant formula batches pulled from shelves in parts of Europe after tests detected traces of contaminants linked to raw materials supplied by third-party vendors. However, Nestlé India insists none of the batches sold locally are part of any recall exercise.
By highlighting local production and compliance, Nestlé India seeks to reinforce confidence in its infant nutrition offerings, at a time when quality and safety are under heightened public and regulatory focus worldwide.
