APEDA to undergo comprehensive review of functioning; restructuring soon

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is expected to undergo a comprehensive review of its functioning. The Department of Commerce, Government of India, has initiated the review to restructure the authority.
It is learnt that the Department of Commerce has undertaken a comprehensive review of the functioning of APEDA and had approved the restructuring report in respect of APEDA.
The report included various recommendations which included creation of posts at various levels, engagement of subject matter experts, re-designation, and merger of posts at the same pay-levels, opening of new regional offices of APEDA and so on.
Presently, a total of 24 posts (20 posts under Group-A and 04 posts under Group-B) are vacant in APEDA.
It is pertinent to mention that amount of Rs. 405.02 crore has been allocated by the Government to APEDA, in the 15th Finance Commission Cycle (2021-22 to 2025-26).
The total allocation has been apportioned in the five-year period, with yearly allocations being almost equally apportioned in the plan period, and by next year the restructuring is expected to be completed with the start of next cycle of Finance Commission.
