IAS Arun Singhal is appointed as the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the apex food regulator, Food Safety & Standards Authority of India. The government has announced his appointment in an announcement made after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Appointment, ACC.
Singhal, an IAS of UP Cadre, is currently serving in Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as Special Secretary. He would replace Dr GSG Ayyangar, currently acting CEO of FSSAI, who was looking after the affairs of FSSAI since March this year upon transfer of Pawan Agarwal, IAS, to Ministry of Commerce as Special Secretary Logistics.
The Union Government, in a statement, has said that Arun Singhal, lAS (UP:87), Special Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety & Standards Authority of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the rank and pay of Secretary to Government of India by temporarily upgrading the post.
