Bengaluru hosts roadshow for Drinktec ‘17; Expo to kick off on Sept 11

At the first roadshow for Drinktec 2017 - which is slated to be held between September 11 and 15 - took place in Bengaluru, Germany attracted a number of companies from Karnataka.

The five-day exhibition is a display of ingredients, colorants, flavourings, processing, filling, packaging and marketing, and a platform for collaboration and transfer of technology.

The 2017 edition will give importance to product safety, aseptic manufacturing, preservation, zero waste management, energy efficiency and dispensing technology, among others.

Drinktec, which is held once in four years, is the world’s largest fair for the beverage and liquid food industry. Indian beverage companies are now seen to be receptive to international participation.

Companies covering a host of beverages, from soft drinks to fresh fruit pulp and vitamin-infused beverages, are eyeing the European market as the way forward to drive innovation and partnership opportunities.

VDMA is the largest network of the engineering industry in Europe and partner for Drinktec 2017 in Germany. 

For manufacturers and bottlers of beverages and liquid food, sustainability and packaging design in filling and packaging are just as important as an efficient and cost-reducing technical solutions.

“At Drinktec 2017,  these topics will be dealt with intensively from all angles in the coming year,” stated Petra Westphal, exhibition group director, Messe Munich.

“Bengaluru is a big market for beverages and packaging. Hence the first road show was held here,” said Rajiv Nath, managing director, VDMA India.

He added that the second roadshow, held in Mumbai, coincided with drink technology India.

“In 2015, 668 billion litres of soft drinks were consumed. In 2020, we expect 790 billion litres,” said Nath.

“The German event will be held in 14 exhibition halls, spanning over 1,50,000sq m. It would attract 1,600 exhibitors and 70,000 trade visitors from over 180 countries,” Westphal said.

“The event will brings together large and small companies and attract visitors from all business areas. The proportion of visitors from brewing remains constant at around 44 per cent,” she added.

“Those from the areas of milk and liquid dairy products have grown exponentially in recent years. It stood at 18 per cent and 13 per cent respectively, representing  one in three visitors,” Westphal stated.

“In fruit juice,  mineral water and soft drinks, we have recorded strong growth. Most of our visitors come from the soft drink segment. For 2017, we see growth potential, particularly in the areas of milk and liquid food and wine,” she added.
