Beyond Meat, the plant-based meat pioneer, is venturing into the beverage category with the launch of beyond immerse, a sparkling, plant-based protein drink designed to tap into rising consumer demand for functional nutrition products. This marks the company’s first beverage offering and its first non-meat product in its 17-year history as it diversifies beyond its iconic burgers and sausages.
Beyond immerse is formulated to deliver up to 20 grams of plant-based protein per 12-ounce can, along with 7 grams of fiber, antioxidants, electrolytes, and vitamin c, offering a lighter, refreshing alternative to traditional protein shakes. The line will debut in three flavours — peach mango, lemon lime and orange tangerine with options for both a 10g protein/60 calorie version and a 20g protein/100 calorie version to appeal to a broad range of health- and performance-oriented consumers.
The beverages, which derive their protein primarily from pea protein and contain tapioca-based fiber, are positioned to support muscle health, gut balance and immune function, according to the company. Beyond Meat also highlights that the drinks contain no GMOs or sugar alcohols, catering to consumers increasingly seeking clean-label and functional ingredients in their beverages.
Beyond Immerse will initially be available for a limited time exclusively through Beyond Meat’s direct-to-consumer platform, Beyond Test Kitchen, allowing the company to gauge customer interest before potentially expanding distribution.
This strategic move comes as the plant-based meat segment faces challenges with slowing consumer demand and declining sales. By entering the growing protein beverage market, Beyond Meat aims to broaden its brand presence and capture demand from health-focused consumers looking for protein-rich, functional drink options outside traditional food categories.
Industry observers note that this launch reflects a broader trend toward protein-fortified beverages and functional nutrition products, as well as Beyond Meat’s efforts to innovate and stay relevant in a competitive food and beverage landscape.
