Raghunathrao Bhaskarrao Chitale, man behind Pune's snack tradition, Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale and Chitale Dairy, passed away on Sunday at the age of 95 in Pune. The end came due to prolonged illness.

Popularly known as Bhausaheb Chitale, the veteran, hailing from a small village of  Satara district, came to Pune in the year 1950 to assist his father Bhaskar Ganesh Chitale who founded Chitale Dairy.

Bhausaheb promoted milk co-operatives as well as kept his private milk business going. He set a trend with the famed snack 'Bakarwadi,' developing it into a celebrated offering at Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale. Today the snack has gone global and Chitale’s two sons look after his business.
