Mondelez India has strengthened its premium chocolate portfolio with the launch of two new Cadbury Bournville variants – Bournville 50% dark chocolate with orange and Bournville 70% dark chocolate with orange – marking a strategic move to tap into India’s growing appetite for premium and differentiated dark chocolate offerings.

Blending the classic combination of citrus and cocoa, the new variants aim to elevate the dark chocolate experience by balancing rich cocoa notes with refreshing orange undertones. With this launch, Bournville introduces its first-ever 70% Dark Chocolate with Orange, while also adding a more accessible 50% cocoa option for consumers exploring the dark chocolate category.

The portfolio expansion comes at a time when the Indian dark chocolate segment is witnessing steady premiumisation, driven by evolving consumer preferences, rising awareness around cocoa intensity, and a growing demand for global flavour profiles. Mondelez India’s latest offering reinforces its focus on innovation-led growth within the premium snacking space.

Commenting on the launch, Nitin Saini, vice president – marketing, Mondelez India, said that since introducing dark chocolate to India in 2009, Bournville has played a key role in shaping the category. He noted that as consumer tastes mature, there is increasing interest in distinct cocoa percentages and sophisticated flavour pairings. The new orange variants, he added, combine Bournville’s signature richness with the vibrancy of citrus to offer consumers a more elevated indulgence experience.

The Bournville 50% dark chocolate with orange is positioned as a smooth and approachable option, blending moderate cocoa intensity with a hint of orange. In contrast, the Bournville 70% dark chocolate with orange targets seasoned dark chocolate consumers, delivering a more intense cocoa profile complemented by subtle citrus notes.

The new Cadbury Bournville orange variants are now available across key retail stores and leading e-commerce platforms in India, further strengthening Mondelez India’s presence in the premium chocolate segment.
