Dynamic young entrepreneurs Sohel Lalvani and Shaan Gidwani, bring you a fusion of European and Latin American flavours, paired with extensive tequila offerings in the city, sure to tickle your taste buds. With operations managed by Ketan Thakkar and Yogesh Kandpal, Cafe Panama is Mumbai’s latest all day dining bistro and bar, tucked away in the quaint lanes of Todi Mills in the buzzing business district of Lower Parel.
Spread over 3500 sq. ft., this elegant yet chic new bistro serves as the perfect venue to host your business meetings, brainstorming sessions, kitty lunches through the day and cranks it up a notch in the evenings with some Latino electric beats, that will keep you on your toes late into the night.
About The Space: Think Tropical Glam Enter and be struck by the 30-foot high ceiling enveloped by a giant glass roof open to the sky. The streaming radiant natural sunlight makes you want to spend your days here and the night sky is the perfect covering to enjoy a cocktail and dinner. The cafe has tasteful shades of green, blue-and-gold and the sprawling space is divided into an entrance with a living lobby, an exclusive booth section, an easy-breezy lounge, an energetic bar and a tranquil private dining room, all with a refreshingly verdant décor making you feel like you are in a tropical garden.
The interiors of the restaurant are truly a labour of love of a creative and passionate team using a ‘Palm beach’ inspiration. The furniture that is a mix of modern and traditional, gilded details and luxurious fabrics; showcasing ‘Tropical Glam'. Taking inspiration from the vibrant beauty and culture of Panama, it is a perfect combination of comfort, ease and utility with a dash of nostalgia whilst being eclectic and striking. The style is characterized by warm and soothing colours drawn mostly from natural elements such as the sea, sky and forest. The hues are deep, rich and earthy.
The Food and The Tipple Chef Dev Singh Negi presents neatly plated, classic European fare with a tongue tingling Latin twist. Kick start your day with a variety of breakfast options ranging from sugar dusted French toasts, sweet and savoury Belgian Waffles, creamy scrambled eggs paired with some authentic Latin coffee concussions, piping hot teas and freshly pressed juices to keep you going all day.
Start off your meal with the delicious Sopa de Champiñones a Colombian mushroom and kale soup with hints of truffle oil and porcini dust and salads like Watermelon and arugula in tequila chili lime served with sago crackers or The Mexican Caesar. While you ponder over the variety of options, nibble on Bar Snacks like Burrata with herb chilli and mango salsa; Corn tamale with aged mole and spicy cilantro sauce; Tacos with Portobello mushroom and pepper rouille or with pork carnetas; Mexican shrimp skillet and Lamb empanadas with Tomatillo salsa and hot sauce.
A scrumptious line up of mains, featuring Amaranth and Quinoa Timbale with avocado, cauliflower and sweet potato; Silken Tofu with kumquat, asparagus and cous cous; Argentinian Pollo Assado with fava bean ragout and charred carrots; Lamb Shanks with spice tomato sauce paired with some quirky cocktails such as The Panama made using tequila with infused with hints of spice; Del Toro, a twist on the classic Moscow mule with a hybrid in house beer syrup balanced with a sweet, sour and spicy combination, or the Eva, which perfectly marries sweet and sour flavours, has buttery notes with hints of pickled cherries. These concoctions promise to mentally take you to the beaches along the Caribbean Sea. For the pasta lovers, a wide spread of distinctly flavoured Homemade Maltagliata with Portobello, porcini and chives; Butternut Squash Risotto with fried asparagus and mascarpone; Gnocchi alla Ciociara with bacon, pork sausage and ham.
