The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan has stressed the need for sustainable agriculture, balanced fertiliser use and conservation of natural resources given to farmers.
He was speaking at the launch of Haryana FPO Mission at Agriculture College, Bawal, Rewari, Haryana. The event was presided over by the Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, while Shyam Singh Rana, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Fisheries, Government of Haryana was the guest of honour.
Chouhan said that the resolve to make India glorious, glorious, prosperous, prosperous, powerful, self-reliant and developed will be fulfilled only when the farmers of the country are developed and prosperous.
Chouhan reiterated his resolve to give a new direction to the agriculture sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and praised the policies of the Haryana Government. He said that Haryana is the state where MSP is being given on 24 crops, Bhavantar Payment Scheme is applicable, and farmers are also being given full price for their sweat through Bhavantar on horticultural crops, vegetables and fruits. Referring to initiatives like ‘Meri Fasal, Mera Khet, Mera Vyaora’ and ‘Mera Pani, Meri Virasat’, he said that with these efforts, Haryana is showing a new path to the entire country and many states need to learn from here.
Chouhan reminded the farmers that India once had to import red wheat from America, but the country's grain reserves have been filled with the efforts of states like Haryana. He said that India has reached number one in the world in rice production and the role of farmers of Haryana has been very important in this agricultural revolution. At the same time, he underlined that Haryana is not only a leader in food grain production, but the role of the youth here is also in the forefront in securing the border and increasing the country's prestige in sports and Olympics.
Chouhan said that our mother earth is getting sick due to imbalanced and excessive use of fertilisers and pesticides. Saying that the earth should not apply so much fertiliser, do not put so much pesticide that I myself get sick, he appealed to the farmers to use fertiliser only on the basis of soil testing and only the amount of fertiliser that is needed. Giving an example, he said that just as health deteriorates if the doctor gives too much or wrong medicine, similarly, unnecessary addition of urea and DAP in the field is increasing soil degradation, acid increase, nutrient imbalance and emission of greenhouse gases, which affects our crops. Seeds, fruits and vegetables and ultimately on our body. He warned that if this imbalance continues, the earth may deny food production in the future and it can become a big crisis for the coming generations.
Chouhan said that the government is making such a system that the information of the soil health card will be available to the farmers immediately through the mobile app. You will be able to stand in the field and know through mobile what elements are in your soil and how much fertiliser should be added.
Emphasising on natural farming, Union Minister Chouhan said that if natural farming is done in the right way, then production does not decrease. He urged the farmers to experiment with natural farming on a small portion of their farmland. He also said that due to excessive chemical fertilisers and pesticides, micro-organisms are being destroyed in the soil and bio-allies like earthworms are now less visible in the fields, which has to be changed.
