Cinépolis India, the country's only international cinema exhibitor, has announced a partnership with House of Candy, which is India’s largest importer and retailer of pick and mix confectionary.
Under the partnership, House of Candy will receive dedicated, branded display space at Cinépolis concession counters across 84 properties, 41+ cities in the country, featuring a curated range of the brand's packaged candy products.
As part of the partnership, House of Candy will also bring special edition Halloween candies to Cinépolis cinemas this October, giving moviegoers a seasonal range timed to the festive period.
For House of Candy, the partnership extends its retail footprint into a new high-footfall environment. The brand currently operates in 100+ outlets across malls, high streets and airports in India, alongside shop-in-shop presences with retail partners. Cinépolis welcomes close to 41 million guests annually across its circuit.
Speaking about the partnership, Devang Sampat, Managing Director, Cinépolis India said, "Our guests tell us what they want through what they buy. When we study ordering patterns across our Club Cinépolis members, confectionery stands out as a category where guests want more variety.
House of Candy has built a brand our guests already know and love from malls and airports, and a dedicated range of their packaged candies at our counters means guests can grab their favourites on the way in to their movie. As we expand our F&B offering, bringing in brands our guests already love is at the heart of how we are building a future ready cinema experience in India."
The partnership adds to Cinépolis India's expanding portfolio of branded food and beverage collaborations, which includes tie-ups with Doritos and Crax, alongside its recent partnership with Swiggy Dineout.
Food and beverage currently contribute approximately 35 per cent of Cinépolis India's revenue and the company is making focused efforts to expand its offerings to the customers.
Kanu Sharma, Co-Founder/ VP Marketing, House of Candy, said from pick-and-mix counters to indulgent movie-time treats, the association between candy and cinema is both natural and nostalgic. At House of Candy, we are incredibly excited to be pioneering this experience on a large scale across cinema chains in India through our partnership with Cinépolis.
This collaboration is about more than just expanding our retail footprint; it is about enhancing the overall movie-going experience. We see tremendous potential in this partnership to make candy an essential part of India’s evolving cinema culture, much like it has been internationally. Together with Cinépolis, we look forward to creating memorable, joyful experiences and making every movie outing a little sweeter.”
