Coca-Cola creates chief digital officer role to accelerate tech transformation
Friday, 23 January, 2026, 16 : 00 PM [IST]
Atlanta, USA
The Coca-Cola Company has established a newly created executive position chief digital officer (CDO) underscoring its commitment to digital transformation amid rapidly evolving technology demands in the consumer goods sector. The appointment is part of a broader leadership restructuring aimed at strengthening Coca-Cola’s digital capabilities and enhancing strategic alignment across global operations.

Coca-Cola has named Sedef Salingan Sahin a seasoned 20-plus-year veteran of the company as its first chief digital officer. Sahin, currently President of Coca-Cola’s Eurasia and Middle East operations, will officially assume the role on March 31, 2026, when the company’s new CEO, Henrique Braun, takes over leadership. In her new position, Sahin will report directly to Braun and lead the company’s digital transformation agenda.

The creation of the CDO role reflects Coca-Cola’s focus on unifying digital strategy, data integration and operational excellence across its global business. Sahin’s responsibilities will include strengthening execution, simplifying workflows and enhancing the company’s ability to deliver personalised consumer experiences with speed and precision. Digital initiatives previously managed by the Chief Financial Officer will transition to the new role, enabling more integrated leadership over technology-driven operations.

In addition to the CDO appointment, Coca-Cola’s leadership reshuffle sees the expansion of commercial responsibilities for Manolo Arroyo, who will take on the role of chief marketing and customer commercial officer. These organizational adjustments are designed to bring the business closer to consumers and improve how the company adopts and scales technology across markets.

While Coca-Cola’s announcement did not explicitly focus on artificial intelligence (AI), the company has been integrating AI technologies into areas such as marketing and consumer engagement, reflecting broader tech trends in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry.

By elevating digital leadership at the executive level, Coca-Cola aims to better navigate the challenges of modern consumer expectations, drive innovation and maintain agility in a highly competitive global market.
