Coca-Cola has announced a significant leadership reshuffle that expands the role of Sanket Ray, currently President of India and Southwest Asia (INSWA), positioning him at the helm of critical Asian markets as the company pursues accelerated growth across the continent.
Effective March 31, 2026, Ray will take on the additional responsibilities of Emerging Large Markets Lead, overseeing key territories including Greater China & Mongolia and Japan & South Korea, while continuing to lead the INSWA operating unit. This expanded mandate reflects Coca-Cola’s renewed focus on strengthening its footprint across some of the world’s most dynamic beverage markets.
The leadership realignment comes in tandem with the company’s global structural overhaul ahead of Henrique Braun stepping into the role of Coca-Cola’s Chief Executive Officer, succeeding James Quincey at the end of March. Under Braun’s leadership, Coca-Cola is creating new regional clusters aimed at boosting operational agility and sharpening strategic focus across markets in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Ray’s expanded role will see him steer growth strategies, go-to-market execution, and consumer engagement efforts across a diverse set of economies — from the rapidly growing Indian subcontinent to the competitive beverage landscapes of East Asia. Industry insiders say this underscores Coca-Cola’s belief in Ray’s deep regional experience and his ability to navigate multi-market complexities.
The move is expected to enhance Coca-Cola’s ability to align product innovation, marketing initiatives, and supply chain efficiencies with evolving consumer preferences in both established and emerging markets. Executives view this as a pivotal step in scaling the company’s presence where demand for both traditional and newer beverage categories including ready-to-drink teas, coffees, juices and sparkling drinks — is on the rise.
By entrusting Ray with a broader pan-Asian mandate, Coca-Cola signals its intent to not only fortify its leadership bench but also to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive regional landscape.
