Coffee meet highlights beverage or commodity is a unifying force

The World Coffee Conference 2023, being held here, resonated with the G20 theme for One Earth, One Family One Future. The four-day event, which kicked off with much fervour highlighted that though India exports over $1 billion of coffee annually, yet there is a long way to go for cultivation of coffee.
Union Minister for Commerce and Industries Piyush Goyal, in his inaugural address, said, “Coffee which is an international commodity is a unifying force that can bring ethnicities, cultures, countries and colours together and help in the sustainability and regenerative agriculture."
Goyal noted that coffee was a shared passion and beverage or the commodity had a unifying force. Speaking at the opening session of the 5th World Coffee Conference (WCC) held for the first time in Asia at Bengaluru, Goyal said that the conclave could ‘brew a better world.’ The World Coffee Conference theme is 'Sustainability through circular economy and regenerative agriculture. In this regard it was of major importance for women to enter the sector.
Noting that the World Coffee Conference resonated with the G20 theme for One Earth, One Family One Future, the minister noted that coffee was a shared passion and beverage or the commodity had a unifying force.
He also said that Bengaluru, which is playing host to the event, is the perfect setting as technology meets taste and helped in creating a perfect blend between flavour and innovation. The city was the right destination to host WCC kind of global coffee events.
