Dainty Foods opens first U.S. manufacturing facility in Batavia Township
Monday, 09 March, 2026, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Ohio, USA
Dainty Foods, a Canadian producer of private-label rice and ready-to-heat meal solutions, has announced the establishment of its first manufacturing facility in the United States at Batavia Township, Ohio. The move marks a significant step in the company’s North American expansion strategy as it aims to strengthen its supply chain and meet growing demand for convenient meal products in the U.S. market.

The project involves an initial investment of around $85 million, which is expected to increase to nearly $150 million over the next five years. The facility will be operated through the company’s new subsidiary, Dainty USA LLC, and is projected to generate approximately 240 jobs once the project is fully completed.

Spread across nearly 250,000 square feet, the new manufacturing plant will significantly expand the company’s production capacity in North America. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to produce up to 250 million units annually, including retort pouches as well as rice cups and bowls designed to cater to the increasing consumer demand for convenient and ready-to-eat meal solutions.

Production at the plant will begin in phases, with the first phase scheduled to become operational in the first quarter of 2027. The facility will incorporate advanced technology and automation systems to enhance operational efficiency, maintain product quality and improve supply chain performance.

The site will also feature modern logistics infrastructure, including a dedicated rail spur, three inbound loading bays for raw materials and six outbound bays for distributing finished products across the United States.

Founded more than 140 years ago, Dainty Foods supplies private-label microwaveable rice and meal products to grocery and convenience retailers across North America. The company is a subsidiary of the France-based Marbour Group.

Industry observers note that the new facility will help the company strengthen its presence in the U.S. market while improving production flexibility and supply reliability for retail partners across the region.
