Delhi to conduct food quality survey across 11 dists ahead of Diwali

The Delhi State Food Safety Department has decided to conduct a comprehensive survey of food articles across 11 districts of Delhi before Diwali to assess the quality.
All the food safety officials across 11 districts of Delhi were asked to carryout random sampling of articles like khoya, paneer, sweets, milk and milk products in the wake of larger public interest ahead of Diwali.
As per reports, during the Durga Puja, the Department has taken over 500 samples for analysis, report of which is awaited. And before Diwali, the Department intends to also conduct surveillance on bakery, chocolate & confectionery items.
It is pertinent to mention that during festival season the risk of adulteration increases manifold and even the FSSAI issues direction to all the state food safety departments to keep a strict vigil on activities related to adulteration.
