DFRL & DIAT to conduct M Sc food tech for industry-sponsored candidates

In a major initiative to have access to qualified manpower, Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL) and the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune, will be organising a two-year M Sc in food technology for industry-sponsored candidates. The course commences in July this year.
The institute is now a Deemed University (Under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956) and is fully funded by the department of defence R&D, ministry of defence, Government of India.
In this regard, the admission to the course will be open for five seats only. The duration of the course is for two years wherein the first and second semester will be at DIAT. The third and the fourth semesters will be conducted at DFRL, Mysuru.
The eligibility of candidates is B Sc / B Tech in food technology / food science / biotechnology / home science / any branch of science. The fee structure is Rs 65,000 per semester. There is no age limit for industry-sponsored candidates.
Both DFRL and DIAT have announced that interested candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions could apply to the Director, Defence Food Research Laboratory, Siddarthanagar, Mysore, on or before May 31, 2018, along with their certificates/testimonials, sponsorship certificate, experience certificate and so on together with a set of self-attested copies of each for detailed scrutiny.
The communication also states that the sponsored candidate must be in service of the sponsoring organisation. The sponsoring organisation must specifically undertake to provide full salary to the candidate and to relieve him/her to pursue the course for its full duration. The sponsored candidates seeking admission to the M Sc in food technology course will be selected based on their performance in the interview. Self-sponsored candidates are not eligible for this course.
