Dil Foods, a brand working with small to medium independent food businesses and restaurants, has recently raised $128,000 in funding from angel investors. With this funding, the company is driving development and expansion in Bengaluru.
In just over two months, it has gone live for home delivery in 15 locations across Bengaluru. It uses the under-utilised infrastructure of small independent restaurants to provide an authentic regional cuisine experience to the diverse palates of India and positions itself as an asset-light model.
Arpita Aditi, founder and CEO, Dil Foods, said, “The Indian food industry witnessed high shut-down rates in smaller restaurants operating at this scale. Our team identified such key issues and came up with a solution to address these pain points. They provide training, packaging, and marketing to small restaurants owned independently, and assimilate them into the larger Dil brand.”
“We see the brand to cater to any regional cuisine, while also safeguarding the livelihoods of our restaurant partners. We are excited about taking our venture out in the world of food, and hope that our patrons grow in strength not just in Bengaluru, but beyond too!,” she added.
Each type of cuisine is offered by a distinct, but cohesive brand under Dil Foods. It has launched Dil Punjabi and Dil Tiffins on Swiggy and Zomato. These two brands under the Dil umbrella provide authentic Punjabi food and South Indian breakfast and meals, respectively. While these brands are live on different platforms as of now, the plan is to eventually move them onto Dil’s own online platform, with even more cuisines to be added soon as sub-brands.
The idea came from Aditi, who has been in the food industry for the past 6 years, managing partnerships with Swiggy from 2017 to 2019, and later launching Nutnbolt, a business solution to solve issues for the food industry.
The Bengaluru-based Dil Foods provides training, packaging, and marketing to small restaurants owned independently, and assimilates them into the larger Dil brand. It looks forward to working with independent restaurant owners to create a shared and sustainable economy that can cater to the varied Indian palate. Its platform is inclusive, scalable, and an authentic solution for a growing demand for regional cuisines in Bengaluru.
