The Export Inspection Council of India (EIC) has decided to conduct a study for analysis of the gap in food testing lab infrastructure for the purpose of export.
Even places like Ahmedabad, Faridabad and Mangalore have been already identified for new lab infrastructure.
The aim of the study is to augment the lab infrastructure across India.
According to senior officials of EIC, a detailed study is required to identify gaps, which then will form basis for a comprehensive plan of action to enhance lab infrastructure and capabilities.
As per reports, this will be complemented by an integrated module for traceability with streamlined process for sampling/inspection, testing and certification for exports.
Further, it is learnt that EIC will enter into MoUs and mutual recognition treaties with different countries for worldwide recognition of its processes.
