F Oil Palm signs pact with Karnataka to promote oil palm cultivation in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada

F Oil Palm has entered into an agreement with the Karnataka government to boost oil palm cultivation in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. This initiative aims to enhance local agriculture, improve farmers' incomes, and promote sustainable practices in oil palm farming. The partnership includes support for training, resources, and infrastructure development to facilitate the growth of this sector in the region.
Oil palm or Elaeis guineensis Jacq., is the crop of the present and future vegetable oil economy of world as well as India. A native of West Africa and popularly known as African oil palm or Red oil palm, it is known to be the highest edible oil yielding perennial crop.
Palm oil is derived from fleshy mesocarp of the fruit, which contains about 45-55% of oil and is rich in antioxidants & vitamins, one of which is vitamin E, which is critical for keeping immune system healthy. The Palm Kernel Oil, obtained from the kernel of stony seed, is a potential source of lauric oil. Both these oils have edible value and are in great demand.
3F Oil Palm has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Karnataka government's horticulture department to promote sustainable oil palm cultivation in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and the Sedam taluk of Gulbarga district. This agreement is designed to support local farmers by providing resources, training, and assistance to enhance oil palm production. The initiative aims to boost agricultural productivity and contribute to the economic development of these regions while promoting environmentally friendly practices.
As part of the initiative, 3F Oil Palm Pvt Ltd will manage various aspects of oil palm cultivation, including area expansion, nursery development, sprout procurement, and seedling cultivation in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Gulbarga’s Sedam taluk. This comprehensive approach aims to establish a robust oil palm infrastructure, supporting local farmers and ensuring sustainable growth in the region. By overseeing these key activities, the company hopes to enhance productivity and encourage wider adoption of oil palm farming practices, said the company.
This initiative is focused on boosting palm oil productivity, fostering economic growth, and equipping farmers with sustainable agricultural practices. By providing training and resources, the program aims to empower local farmers, ultimately creating a model for long-term agricultural success in the state. This effort not only seeks to enhance the livelihoods of farmers but also promotes sustainable practices that can benefit the environment and the economy in the region, said the Karnataka government.
