Food processing firms propose Rs 2,963 crore investments in Ujjain district

Four companies have proposed investments amounting to nearly Rs 2,963 crore in Ujjain district, potentially generating employment for 13,150 people, according to the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC). The proposals include three food processing units.
Amitex Agro Product plans to set up a food processing facility in Lalukhedi, Agar Malwa, with an investment of Rs 200 crore, creating around 800 work opportunities. Sanket Oils has proposed a Rs 75 crore food oil processing unit in Mandsaur, targeting 650 work opportunities. Safal Food intends to invest Rs 138 crore to establish pulses mill in Mandsaur, which is expected to generate employment for 800 individuals
Rajesh Rathod, executive director of MPIDC, Indore, said, "Food processing units have shown a lot of interest in setting up facilities in industrial belts in Ujjain. Proximity to Indore, the airport, dry port, and availability of land and workforce have attracted the interest of industries."
At the Agriculture Industry Conclave in Sitamau, Mandsaur, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav laid foundation stones and issued letters of intent to 11 industries proposing investments exceeding Rs 3,800 crore. In response to increasing investor interest, MPIDC is developing Phase-II of the Jaggakhedi industrial belt on 72 hectares, and acquiring undeveloped land in Dhikola and Bhuki villages in Mandsaur for further expansion.
