The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has stated that its order allowing food businesses (non- manufacturers) to run operations with the 17 digit application reference number will cease from June 30, 2021. The relaxation was made in the wake of prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.
Similarly, in case of manufacturers, relaxation to operate with higher capacity on the basis of application for modification of licence will also cease.
In this regard, the FSSAI has issued an order, which also says that the order of limited inspection and e-inspection will cease from June 30 and physical inspection will begin.
FSSAI, in April, this year, issued some relaxations for smoother operations of food businesses during the period all states started imposing lockdown due to pandemic.
Meanwhile, the order says that the extension of timeline for submission of online annual returns through FoSCoS shall continue until August 31 along with waiver of late fee for renewing of licence.
The apex food regulator has asked the state food safety departments to make FBOs aware of these developments. It has asked the state food authorities to initiate action in case of non-compliance of annual returns, against the defaulters after the last date of submission.
