The food authority has invited all the stakeholders including citizens, researchers, professionals, FBOs and associations to contribute towards a safer food ecosystem by sharing relevant information/data on food safety and nutrition, helping FSSAI in policy formulations with respect to the food safety ecosystem.
For this purpose, the food authority has issued a standardised format for submission of representation seeking risk assessment, as representation submitted to the FSSAI lacks requisite information.
The FSSAI has issued an order in this regard, stating that representations submitted to the Science and Standards Division often lack requisite data or a harmonised format and to ensure smooth management, tracking, and transparency by the authority, a standardised format is implemented for compliance.
"This will enable the Scientific Panels and Scientific Committee to conduct risk assessments in alignment with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (Transaction of Business and Procedure for the Scientific Committee and Scientific Panel) Regulations, 2016," reads the order.
Further, FSSAI has invited stakeholders including food businesses, industry associations, research institutions, professionals, and citizens to share data generated through monitoring, internal assessments, or R&D relevant to food safety and nutrition in the prescribed format.
"Submission will be treated as 'Confidential' and utilised solely for the scientific evaluation, standard setting and policy purpose," the order stated.
