FSSAI issues order for nationwide extension of provision for tatkal licence or regn for certain businesses

The FSSAI has issued an order for nationwide extension of provision for instant (tatkal) issuance of licence/ registration in certain categories of food businesses.
In July 2024, FSSAI had launched instant (tatkal) issuance of licence/registration for specific categories of food businesses in Assam, Delhi, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir and Kerala.
The apex food regulator now extended this provision nationwide excluding the States/UT of Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya. The provision will be implemented in these States/UT after incorporating State-specific requirements.
According to the FSSAI, the instant issuance of licences/registrations will continue to be subject to conditions prescribed by the FSSAI and for specific categories such as Wholesalers, Distributors, Retailers, Transporters, Storage without Atmospheric Control, Importers, Food Vending Agencies, Direct Sellers, Merchant- Exporters, Petty Retailers of snacks/tea shops and Hawkers (Itinerant / Mobile food vendors).
