FSSAI notifies RDs for review of application of rejected imported foods

The food regulator has notified Regional Directors of FSSAI with their concerned jurisdiction for review of application of rejected imported food items.
FSSAI issued an order in this regard which lays down that the review applications from food importers aggrieved by the order of Authorised Officers including organic food imports shall be examined by the RD.
The Regional Directors shall examine and make decision on review applications based on the jurisdiction assigned by the FSSAI Headquarters wherein the Regional Director North shall review applications from Eastern Points of Entry -PoE while Eastern RD will review Northern importers' applications.
Similarly, Southern RD will review Western region's importers' review application and Western RD shall review applications from Southern PoE.
According to FSSAI, the jurisdiction shall be valid till online faceless review process is implemented, subsequent to which all review applications will be randomly forwarded to any Regional Director except home region.
