Wednesday, 07 August, 2024, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Ashwani Maindola, New Delhi
The FSSAI has withdrawn its order allowing topping of fresh oil to used cooking oil after it develops 25% total polar component.

In January 2022, FSSAI had issued a direction for removing the provision that the cooking oil having developed Total Polar Compounds (TPC) of more than 25% shall not be topped up with fresh oil.

"This provision has been reviewed keeping in view the available testing protocol and related enforcement issues," read the January' 22 order and added that it has been decided to remove this provision with immediate effect from the guidelines for disposal of the used cooking oil.

Now the food regulator has decided to withdraw this order stating that the order dated January 20, 2022, stands withdrawn with immediate effect.
