fiogf49gjkf0d fiogf49gjkf0d Gadre Marine Export Pvt. Ltd, a seafood exporter from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, at a business meet held here recently, announced association with chef Vikas Khanna as brand ambassador and expansion of its footprint into 20 cities.
Explaining the association, Vikas Khanna, chef (seafood), said, “I can never get enough of seafood and through this association, I've explored some interesting recipes which will change the way we eat seafood. Especially with upcoming innovative products from Gadre.”
Commenting on the association, Arjun Gadre, proprietor, Gadre Marine Export Pvt. Ltd, said, “Vikas Khanna is one of the most versatile chefs in the country with an expertise in seafood. We are extremely delighted about this association and couldn't have thought of anyone better to represent the brand Gadre and our products.”
Giving further details, Sneha Sharma, brand manager, Gadre Marine Export Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai, informed that the brand would launch its new campaign - 'What The Fish' for packaged frozen food products with Khanna. The campaign will feature television commercials to digital activities. The brand's website will have some exciting recipes of the 'webisodes' by the chef.
Initially, the company would make forays into Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Kochi markets. Sharma stated, “Region-wise expansion will be initiated. We have received credible responses from Kolkata, Bangalore, Westerns regions, coastline, and eastern regions like Orissa in an experimental run held by us.”
Sharma informed, "Crabstick - our celebrated offering is made up of fish which are liked by people. We had an experimental run in the regions of Kolkata, where we found huge demand for our products. We have added it to our expansion plans. We operate only on one simple parameter, to offer our customer fresh food. This is the reason why Gadre doesn't sell online.”
She added, "We have been recently associated with some HORECA events. We have a huge range of seafood, which is frozen food liked by people in south India. Our targets are both consumers as well as business markets."
With regard to export markets, Sharma stated, “Gadre has presence in 20 nations in our export portfolio and we haven't discontinued any of our clients instead we are adding more to our portfolio.”
Speaking on the logistics of the perishable commodities like seafood, Sharma added, “There is a huge requirement of the cold chains in India at the market hubs. There is a need to develop refrigerated transportation in India so that sea food can reach well in the interiors of the nation. We at our factories have developed in-house cold storages which can keep seafood fresh for two long years.
In conclusion, Sharma said, “We have a monopoly over our products - crabsticks, wherever you will find crabsticks it should be from Gadre's.”
Endorsing her view, Mitesh Rangras, director, Sid Hospitality, Mumbai, said, "I have been in the industry for around 15 years for now and I have been importing crabsticks so that our customers can enjoy a different menu. Importing is a tedious task as many a times due to some issues we were unable to serve our customers with the crabsticks menu. Now, we have Gadre, who has asked us to try out their domestically processed crabsticks. Our consumers have liked the menu. Thus, we are trying to come up with a new upgraded menu, where we can have more delicacies on Gadre's products.”
Rangras added, “There is a trend worldwide to have local specialities on your menu. The time of salmon and tuna is already a history. So we will take this trend ahead.”
Founded in the year 1978, the Rs 500cr company is the third-largest Surimi (fish paste) manufacturer in the world. It has three factories at various locations like Gujarat, Ratnagiri in Maharashtra and Bangalore in Karnataka. Its product line includes Masala prawns, Masala mackerel, Lobster bytes, and Amritsari crab claw.
