Brands, restaurants, retailers and workplaces join the season with Veganuary specials. Just as 2025 rolls in, so does Veganuary. The global campaign that inspires and supports people to try vegan has been a massive hit in India, with more than 2,50,000 Indians taking the 31-day pledge in the last three years.

There are multiple factors driving this interest towards plant-based eating, including increased awareness, celebrity endorsement and better access to plant-based alternatives to meat and dairy.

January 2024, saw the food service industry take note of this demand, as 70 new vegan menu options were introduced in restaurants across the country. Over 40 new plant-based products were launched in the market across seven retailers and nine major food businesses during last Veganuary alone.

The upcoming campaign, as revealed by Veganuary, is poised to see an even bigger presence of vegan products in the market. Indian brands are using this as an opportunity for new product launches, special offers, exclusive vegan menus and more.

AD Singh, MD-Olive of Olive Bar and Kitchen, said, “We're excited to join the Veganuary movement and offer our guests a delicious, curated Vegan menu. January is the month where many people are focused on improving their health and make this part of their resolution for the new year. With its immense health benefits and planet-friendly practices, our plant-based menu is a step in this direction, helping our guests make healthier choices.”

Leading retail chains are also taking note of this opportunity, and introducing their own vegan collections and special offers.

Sachin Agarwal, COO, Nature's Basket, said, "We are incredibly proud to be associated with Veganuary and thrilled to support a cause that not only protects the planet but also promotes better human health. At Nature's Basket, we offer an extensive range of vegan products in our stores, and through this impactful platform, we aim to inspire more people to embrace veganism. This marks our third year participating in Veganuary, and we remain committed to supporting this movement every year, fostering a healthier and more sustainable future for all."
Mayank Gupta, co-founder, Food Square, said, “Food Square is celebrating Veganuary too. At Food Square, our focus is on a high quality and inclusive shopping experience. We are happy to introduce a wide range of vegan products this Veganuary, for everyone who is on the way to a plant-forward diet. No more reading labels, just head to our vegan aisle for anything from daily essentials to gourmet specials.”

In addition to brands, restaurants and retailers, employers are looking at Veganuary as an opportunity to encourage employee health and wellbeing.

Kulpreet Freddy Vesuna, founder & managing director, Impact PR, said, “This year, we decided to embrace the Veganuary Workplace Challenge at our offices. Our goal is to try vegan, as a way to inspire a healthier way of life. Personally, I transitioned to vegetarian three years ago, and now, taking the next step towards vegan feels exciting and transformative.”

Popular hospitality chain Impressario is introducing vegan menus across all outlets of Social and Smokehouse. Anyone can participate in Veganuary for free, and receive 31-days of support emails, meal plans, nutrition tips and more.
