Ashwani Maindola, New Delhi
Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has launched the 8th edition of National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) at a programme here.

Goyal has said that the Government is committed towards the promotion of organic products and making India a global brand.

He said that Cooperative, Agriculture and Commerce sectors shall work together to fulfil the vision of organic farming in India.

The highlight of the new edition of NPOP regulations include traceability, which is simplified in the new edition along with cost effective certification processes.

Goyal added that new edition of NPOP  will help in increasing the exports by National Cooperative Export Ltd.

The Government expects that the export of organic products, which stands at approximately Rs 5000 crore presently, should reach Rs 20,000 crore in next 3 years.

Further, the Union Government has instituted an organisation, National Cooperative Organics Ltd, which will specially help in value addition to organic products by working with farmers. And this will include training for value addition, packaging & marketing.
