Gurbani re-elected Indian Confectionery Manufacturers’ Assn president

B K Gurbani, chairman and managing director, Sampre Nutritions Ltd, Hyderabad, has been elected president, Indian Confectionery Manufacturers’ Association (ICMA), for the second term, succeeding Harsh Arora.
He has been very active with the association for the last 22 years. During his past tenure, the industry dealt with the government and made the representation to reduce the excise duty and getting the candy industry dereserved.
Following constant representations from the association during the latter’s tenure, the government reduced the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on gums and chocolate from 28 per cent to 18 per cent at the GST Council meeting held in Guwahati.
Upon the completion of his tenure, Arora was retained by Gurbani as advisor to the association. M K Agarwal of DS Group currently serves as its vice-president.
