Hatsun Agro Product Ltd. (HAPL) has launched ‘Go-Dhan’, an initiative aimed at strengthening dairy farming in Odisha by improving farmers’ access to institutional finance, government schemes, modern dairy practices and technology.
The initiative was launched at the OUAT Auditorium in Bhubaneswar in the presence of representatives from the Government of Odisha, banking and the dairy sector. The event was attended by Prem Chand Chaudhary, Secretary, Department of Fisheries & Animal Resources Development, Government of Odisha, as Chief Guest; Shubhranshu, Managing Director, APICOL, as Guest of Honour; Rakesh Kumar Yadav, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India; and R. G. Chandramogan, Chairman, Hatsun Agro Product Ltd.
Go-Dhan is expected to support 6,000 dairy farmers across 15 districts of Odisha. The initiative will facilitate access to institutional finance and government support for investments in quality bovine breeds, cattle housing, farm mechanisation, nutrition and herd health.
HAPL will also seek to leverage subsidy programmes such as the Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana (MKUY) to help farmers access affordable capital for establishing and expanding dairy operations. The programme is focused on improving productivity through scientific dairy farming and strengthening the economic sustainability of rural households dependent on dairy farming.
According to R. G. Chandramogan, Chairman, Hatsun Agro Product, the company plans to support the establishment of more than 6,000 dairy farms over the next three years in a phased manner.
The initiative brings together HAPL, dairy farmers, the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Odisha, APICOL and State Bank of India. The company said the programme is intended to strengthen the dairy value chain within the state while creating opportunities for improved farmer incomes and long-term growth.
HAPL also plans to focus on local milk production and procurement in Odisha, with the objective of meeting consumer demand within the state and supplying neighbouring markets, including West Bengal and North Andhra Pradesh. The company expects the initiative to contribute to the development of Odisha’s regional dairy economy while creating a more integrated dairy ecosystem.
