The Hotel and Restaurant Association (Western India) (HRAWI) organised a Food Safety Supervisor Training in Advance Catering (FoSTaC) programme under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on October 30 at Pritam Da Dhaba in Dadar, Mumbai. The programme witnessed participation from 44 hospitality professionals and focused on strengthening food safety practices across the sector.
The training was conducted by Dr V Pasupathy, trainer at Parikshan FSS Pvt Ltd, who provided participants with practical insights into food handling, hygiene, sanitation and waste management. The programme aimed to enhance awareness of food safety requirements and encourage the adoption of best practices in daily hospitality operations.
Commenting on the initiative, Nirav Gandhi, president, HRAWI, said the association remained committed to strengthening food safety standards across the hospitality sector through regular training and certification programmes. He emphasised that FoSTaC was not merely about certification but also about building a culture of responsibility, ensuring that food handlers possess the knowledge and skills required to serve safe, hygienic and wholesome food.
HRAWI has trained and certified 4,198 hospitality professionals through its FoSTaC initiatives and FSSAI's Management Training Programme. The association continues to conduct such programmes to equip industry professionals with the necessary skills to maintain food safety standards and promote consumer confidence.
