HRAWI hosts FSSAI’s FoSTaC training programme in Pune, trains 31 hospitality professionals

The Hotel And Restaurant Association (Western India) (HRAWI) organised the latest Food Safety Supervisor Training in Advance Catering (FoSTaC) programme of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) recently at Amanora The Fern Pune, Series by Marriott. The session witnessed participation from 31 hospitality professionals and was conducted by Dr V. Pasupathy.

The training focused on strengthening food safety practices across the hospitality sector. Key areas covered during the programme included food handling protocols, hygiene standards, sanitation processes and effective waste management systems. Participants were provided with practical insights and operational guidance aimed at reinforcing industry best practices and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

HRAWI has been actively promoting food safety awareness and compliance across Western India through structured training initiatives. To date, the association has successfully trained and certified 3,747 hospitality professionals under the FoSTaC programme and FSSAI’s Management Training Programme. The initiative is designed to foster a strong culture of food safety within the hospitality industry while equipping professionals with the knowledge and skills required to maintain high operational standards in day-to-day activities.

Established over 75 years ago, HRAWI represents hotels and restaurants across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa and the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Its membership spans establishments ranging from standalone restaurants to five-star deluxe hotels. The association is also affiliated with the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), the national apex body of the hospitality industry headquartered in New Delhi.

Through initiatives such as FoSTaC, HRAWI continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing food safety standards and supporting professional development within India’s hospitality sector.
