The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) in a recent seminar. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the pursuit of sustainable practices within the hotel industry.
The theme of the seminar was Life, Property and Environment Safety for Hospitality Industry. Many experts from the industry shared their insights at the seminar.
Pradeep Shetty, president, HRAWI, said, "Hotel association and the IGBC which is one of the agencies looking at green buildings and we are going to bring the colour green into the hotel industry and that's what the end is going to be. Going forward we will share information, will share expertise and we will bring on board IGBC for all our events so that our members are educated and brought in what is going on in terms of green revolution, sustainable development and most importantly about how to achieve a net zero in terms of energy, food waste, and many more."
"We believe as an industry association and industry body it is our major role to ensure that we create an environment which is safe, safe for our guests, safe for people who work for us, safe for our businesses and most importantly safe for the environment so that we leave behind the legacy. The industry will be looked upon not as energy guzzlers but as sustainable business entities which are creating memories rather than any other negative things," he added.
