IEG expands Brazilian portfolio with acquisition of NIS Summit
Monday, 23 March, 2026, 16 : 00 PM [IST]
Sao Paulo, Brazil
Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) has announced the acquisition of a 51% stake in the NIS Summit – Nutrition Innovation Summit, Brazil’s premier business and innovation platform for functional ingredients, health, and supplements.

The R$20 million transaction marks IEG’s 13th acquisition in Brazil, signaling a strategic push into "recession-proof" sectors. Under the agreement, current NIS leadership will remain at the helm until 2029 to ensure technical continuity, after which IEG holds the option to purchase the remaining 49%.

The move integrates NIS into IEG’s global Food & Beverage division, which includes world-renowned events like SIGEP World. Corrado Peraboni, CEO of IEG, noted that the acquisition targets a segment with low sensitivity to economic cycles.

“Nutrition is no longer a trend; it has become an infrastructure of public health, longevity, and productivity,” said Graziano Messana, CEO of IEG Brasil. “People may put off buying a car, but they do not forego health decisions. Investing in the NIS Summit positions IEG at the center of an ecosystem growing independently of the economic cycle.”

The acquisition comes as the Brazilian food industry continues to see robust expansion. According to the Brazilian Association of the Food Industry (ABIA), the sector recorded a turnover of R$1,277 billion in 2024, representing 10.8% of the national GDP. Specifically, the "special purposes" food segment grew by 4.6% in the first three quarters of 2025.

This deal follows a string of recent investments by IEG in Brazil, including the full acquisition of Expo InfraFM and MundoGeo, and a majority stake in Fenagra. The group aims to build a resilient portfolio connected to major structural transformations in the global economy.
