The Institute of Good Manufacturing Practices India (IGMPI), a recognized vocational institute under India’s Ministry of Education through its faculty of food safety & quality (FFSQ),  has extended its FoSTaC initiative (Food Safety Training and Certification) for food businesses nationwide. As an FSSAI approved training partner (FSSAI ID: TPINS18), IGMPI supports companies in enhancing hygiene standards, complying with regulations and providing a strong culture of food safety.

FoSTac, launched by FSSAI, trains FSS (Food Safety Supervisors) who ensure that hygiene practices are followed across different sectors productions, processing, packaging, storage and transport. These supervisors further train staff, creating wider compliance and accountability within organisations.

IGMPI offers Basic, Advanced, and Special level courses delivered online, onsite, or in hybrid formats. The programme is aimed at food businesses of all sizes, covering personnel in manufacturing, logistics, retail, and catering sectors.

Commenting on the programme, Dr. Syed S. Abbas, director of IGMPI, said, “The food industry is growing rapidly, and maintaining hygiene and safety standards has never been more important. FoSTaC equips organisations with trained supervisors who ensure compliance and help build trust with consumers. At IGMPI, we focus on practical, hands-on training that meets industry needs and prepares businesses for audits and regulatory inspections.”

In addition to FoSTaC, IGMPI conducts certification and onsite training in GMP, Quality Assurance & Control, Regulatory Affairs, FSMS, and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). These programmes have helped companies strengthen processes, improve documentation, and meet regulatory requirements.

IGMPI’s ongoing initiatives aim to develop a well trained workforce and a safer food industry, which supports both established organisations and emerging businesses in achieving higher standards of compliance and operational excellence.
