The special edition of India’s leading trade fair on dairy and dairy technology – IIDE 2022, kicked off on Wednesday, at Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), Mumbai. The event, organised by Koelnmesse India, in association with the Indian Dairy Association (IDA), will be on till April 15, 2022.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Sunil Chatrapal Kedar, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Sports and Youth Welfare and Guardian Minister District-Wardha, Maharashtra Government. Guests of honour at the ceremony were Meenesh Shah, Chairman and Executive Director at National Dairy Development Board, Anand-Gujarat; Dr. G. S. Rajorhia, president, Indian Dairy Association (North Zone), New Delhi, and Arun Patil, chairman, Indian Dairy Association (West Zone).

Speaking on the occasion, Patil said, “India’s dairy industry has achieved great success in milk production,  processing and conversion of milk into value added products; storage, distribution, marketing and export of milk products, during the last five decades.”

“Indian Dairy Association (West Zone), and Koelnmesse YA Tradefair Pvt. Ltd., have been successfully organising IIDE for over a decade. The success of the event is a reflection of the growth and achievements of the Indian dairy equipment manufacturers and service providers,” added Patil.

Milind Dixit, managing director, Koelnmesse YA Tradefair Pvt. Ltd., said, Indian dairy industry is on the upsurge of growth after markets opening up. The dairy fraternity is willing to network and share know-how on new technology and updates in the segment. The rationale for organising IIDE is to provide an extensive platform to all dairy and dairy technology professionals. This includes farmers to cooperative milk producers as well as organised dairy players with large production units and advanced companies in milk processing across the length and breadth of India.”

After a brief hiatus of two years, approximately 5000 visitors at the event got the opportunity to network with around 180 plus exhibitors who are senior professionals, and generate unlimited business opportunities in a safe business environment.

Nirmal Gyanchandani, area sales manager – dairy, West Mumbai, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, said, It is a nice event, it gives us the opportunity to interact with various aspects of a broad spectrum known as dairy industry. Cross functional understanding is the key for a thriving business and day 1 enabled this on a grand scale.”

Ravi Kshirsagar, founder and CEO, Agri Network Consultancy, said, “Indian Dairy Association has given us an opportunity to interact and meet with relevant stakeholders in the ecosystem. The sector has evolved gradually in the last few decades from unorganised to organised market. It's a very unique value chain, where highest perishable item with smallest quantity of milk is collected from remote part of villages and goes to end consumers. It plays a vital role in the rural village economy as secondary and regular source of income.”

Indian Dairy Association is the apex body of the dairy industry in India. The members are from cooperatives, MNCs, corporate bodies, private institutions, educational institutions, Government and public sector units. The seminars and lectures held by Indian Dairy Association reflect the importance of the sector, new technology, use of innovative machines and lots more.

World Dairy Summit 2022 was the topic for the seminar held on April 13, 2022; in the presence of Dr Satish Kulkarni, vice president, Indian Dairy Association, and rapporteured by Anil Hatekar, regional Head (Western Region), National Dairy Development Board.
