India allows export of non-Basmati white rice to Malaysia

India has decided to allow export of Non-Basmati White Rice to Malaysia through National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL).
The Director General Foreign Trade has issued a notification in this regard.
The notification reads, "The Central Government hereby permits export of 2,00,000 MTs of Non-Basmati White Rice under ITC(HS) code 10063090 to Malaysia through National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL)."
India has banned the exports of non-Basmati white rice since July 20, 2023, to maintain domestic supplies.
Experts say that the permission by the government to export was based on the country-specific food security needs.
India has earlier allowed exports of rice to Nepal, the Phillipines, Cameroon amongst others.
