Industry asks FSSAI to increase lab testing facilities across the country

The food industry has asked the apex food regulator to increase lab testing facilities across the country.
Senior executives of food companies had held meeting with the FSSAI CEO in this regard and called for additional lab facilities to curb the menace of adulteration.
CEO KV Rao commented that FSSAI has put in place efforts for increased capacity of lab infrastructure including mobile testing labs wherever required and the food regulator is continuously working towards augmenting such facilities.
The food companies in recent times were at the receiving end amid controversy surrounding some products including ban on Indian spice brands in some countries.
Rao also assured that FSSAI will look into the matter raised by the food industry through scientific panels focussing more on streamlining of processes across the food safety ecosystem.
