Insecticides India Ltd has launched GRANUVIATM, a next-generation, future-ready insecticide in India. It is designed to provide long-duration control of brown plant hopper (BPH) up to 60 days from days of application, recommended application window 30-35 Days after transplanting, along with up to two weeks of protection against stem borer (for dead heart management) — two of the most damaging pests affecting paddy crop.
Pest infestations continue to significantly impact rice productivity across India. Last year, early and prolonged outbreaks of brown plant hopper affected millions of acres across multiple states, forcing farmers to undertake at least two to three rounds of intervention to manage the pest. In severe cases, BPH can lead to yield losses ranging from 20 per cent to 60 per cent.
Similarly, stem borer remains a major yield-limiting pest, typically causing 10 per cent to 30 per cent crop damage. Under severe infestations, losses can be even higher due to the formation of ‘dead hearts’, which severely affects plant health and productivity.
Rajesh Kumar Aggarwal, managing director, Insecticides India Limited, said, “With rising pest pressure and changing climatic conditions, farmers need reliable and easy-to-use solutions. The launch of GRANUVIATM introduces next-generation solution designed to deliver consistent, long-term pest control while improving overall crop health and productivity. Addressing persistent challenges from key pests such as brown plant hopper and stem borer, GRANUVIATM provides sustained protection across critical growth stages.”
Dushyant Sood, chief marketing officer, Insecticides India Limited, added, “This product has been developed by Corteva Agriscience, and will be supplied to Insecticides India Limited under its brand name of GRANUVIATM. It is positioned as a future-ready solution for modern rice farming based on the its novel action to control BPH and Stem borer. With its advanced technology, superior value delivery, proven field performance and farmer-friendly application, GRANUVIATM is set to strengthen pest management practices and support improved productivity in India’s paddy cultivation.”
Manoj Singh Bhandari, GM & crop manager for Paddy, highlighted GRANUVIATM as a future-ready solution for future-ready farmers. Its advanced granular formulation ensures ease of application, reduces overall application costs, and minimises the number of sprays required to manage brown plant hopper (BPH) through its long-duration control. Farmers have been seeking such practical solutions to effectively manage BPH—products that align with their existing application practices while lowering both cost and effort. GRANUVIATM addresses these needs, offering a convenient and efficient alternative to repeated interventions. This approach helps farmers safeguard yields, enhance crop vigour and achieve more reliable harvest outcomes, even amid increasing pest pressure and climate variability. He said, “We have conducted rigorous field days for GRANUVIATM to demonstrate its efficacy to the farmers, where they participated in large numbers and were excited to see the effective control of stem borer and brown plant hopper (BPH), higher tillering that leads to improved crop density, and greener, healthier crops with enhanced vigour.”
