Wednesday, 23 August, 2017, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Jakarta
Ajay Kaul, food and beverage (F&B) industry veteran and former chief executive officer, Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd (parent company of Domino’s Pizza India and Dunkin’ Donuts India), has joined Everstone Group as senior director to support the growth in the quick service restaurant (QSR) business of its food platform, F&B Asia.

Kaul is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-Delhi) whose work experience spans almost 28 years. He has spent over a decade in the F&B industry, and is credited with taking India to the position of the largest market for Domino’s Pizza outside of the United States. It has been the largest QSR brand in India for the past few years.

He will also serve as executive chairman on the boards of F&B Asia’s QSR investments in Indonesia - Domino’s and Burger King. Everstone owns and operates the latter in India too, besides such brands as Masala Library, Farzi Café, Pa Pa Ya, Masala Bar, Harry’s, Pind Balluchi, and Duck & Rice.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kaul to the Everstone Group and the F&B Asia family, where his vast experience and success in the food and beverage sector will be greatly beneficial as we target higher and sustained growth in our QSR businesses in Indonesia - Burger King as well as the Domino’s brand,” said Philip Walters, executive chairman, F&B Asia.

F&B Asia was created to build a pan-Asian food and beverage services platform across multiple formats and cuisines. On the QSR front, the company plans to grow Domino’s Indonesia, as well as Burger King Indonesia and India, by 30 to 50 stores each annually. Currently, the latter has over 70 stores in Indonesia, while the former has over 130.

“I really look forward to working with my colleagues at Everstone and F&B Asia at a time when favourable demographics, rising incomes and increasing interest in eating out in Indonesia make for an exciting journey of growth and innovation for top QSR brands,” Kaul, who also holds a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from XLRI Jamshedpur, said.
