The FSSAl has asked all notified laboratories to adhere with the norms for uploading test reports in the prescribed formats under the FSS Act.
"All the FSSAI notified food testing laboratories u/s 43(1) and 43(2) of FSS Act, 2006, are hereby informed and instructed to follow the test report formats given under Food Safety and Standards (First Amendment) Rules, 2022, for issuing test reports for all the surveillance and enforcement samples," reads the order issued by the food regulator.
Under the Food Safety and Standards (First Amendment) Rules, 2022, the test report formats, Form VII A ‘Report of the Food Analyst’ and Form XI ‘Certificate of Analysis by the Referral Food Laboratory’ (for appeal samples), have been published.
On the other hand, for imported food products, the notified laboratory or referral laboratory, as the case may be, needs to provide the laboratory analysis report in Form - 2 as per Food Safety and Standards (Import) Regulations, 2017.
Furthermore, the FSSAI order adds that laboratories are required to use the NABL symbol in accordance with the guidelines specified in NABL 133 (“Policy for Use of NABL Symbol and/or Claim of Accreditation”) in the test report for tests that are covered under their scope of accreditation.
