LT Foods Ltd, a billion-dollar global FMCG player in the consumer food space, has announced the setting up of a new manufacturing facility in Raichur, Karnataka, aimed at strengthening its presence in India’s fast-formalising regional rice market. The new unit will focus on processing popular non-Basmati rice varieties such as Sona Masoori and Kolam, reinforcing the company’s commitment to South India’s preferred rice categories.

Karnataka is among India’s most important hubs for regional rice production and consumption. The state produces significant volumes of premium non-Basmati rice and is backed by a large and discerning consumer base with a strong preference for regional varieties. Rice variants such as Sona Masoori and Kolam are staple foods across South Indian households, with Sona Masoori also enjoying strong demand in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and among the global Indian diaspora.

The upcoming Raichur facility will have an initial production capacity of 30,000 metric tonnes per annum, enabling LT Foods to enhance sourcing efficiencies, improve processing capabilities, and ensure consistent quality delivery to consumers. Commercial production is expected to begin around February 2, 2026, subject to the receipt of all necessary statutory and regulatory approvals.

The project involves a capital expenditure of approximately Rs 6 crore, which will be funded through internal accruals, underlining the company’s strong financial position and long-term commitment to India’s regional food segments.

Commenting on the development, Ritesh Arora, CEO – India Business & Far East, LT Foods Ltd, said the new facility marks a strategic step in strengthening the company’s regional rice portfolio. He highlighted that varieties like Sona Masoori and Kolam enjoy deep-rooted consumer relevance and steady demand, and the investment will help LT Foods further integrate its value chain—from sourcing and processing to delivering a consistent and high-quality consumer experience.

With this expansion, LT Foods continues to deepen its footprint in regional staples while aligning with evolving consumer preferences and organised retail growth in India.
