Maha FDA seizes and destroys adulterated paneer made in unhygienic conditions

Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Maharashtra, has seized adulterated ‘paneer or cottage cheese’ from a dairy shop in Vasai district.
The FDA acted on a tip off and seized the stock of raw materials used for manufacture of spurious paneer. The FDA officials also destroyed 59 kg of the adulterated paneer worth Rs 17,700.
According to the FDA, these raids were conducted on New Om Sainath Dairy in Vasai East. The FDA has informed that the officials have collected the samples of paneer, skimmed milk powder, white flakes (adulterant) and palmolein oil for lab analysis, from the premises.
During the raid, it was also found that paneer was being manufactured in unhygienic conditions by the proprietor without valid permit.
The officials said that the premises has been sealed keeping in view the larger public interest and further proceedings being carried out into the matter.
The raids were conducted under the supervision of Abhimanyu Kale, Commissioner, Food Safety, and Samadhan Pawar, Joint Commissioner, Vigilance, and other food safety officers.
